This book philosophically explores the unique position that horror and "dark" themes in modern media have come to hold in helping the public both understand and confront the unthinkable. As older ways of understanding the darker aspects of life have faded, newer forms of media and pop culture have filled that vacuum. I always thought this book had a really unique perspective and wanted to reimagine the cover using imagery that at once might be found in popular media with "dark" themes while also nodding to this type of media's religious ancestry.
